NSCAC’s New Publication Just Released; Former Players deVos, Wilkinson Featured in INaugural Issue
40-Page “Journal For Soccer Coaches” Now Available Free To Members
The National Soccer Coaches Association of Canada (NSCAC) officially re-launched last month as a member-based organization providing soccer coaches across Canada with educational opportunities as well as many exclusive services and benefits. One of those benefits, The Journal for Soccer Coaches, a new publication designed exclusively for technical directors, head coaches and staff coaches, was released today and is now available free to all NSCAC members.
The cover story of the The Journal’s 40-page Spring issue features an exclusive interview with former Canadian Men’s National Team captain Jason deVos, now Canada Soccer’s Director of Development. In the wide-ranging interview with The Journal’s Managing Editor Alf De Blasis, deVos reveals his immediate plans for new license courses for youth coaches as well as his vision for Long Term Player Development in Canada.
Also in the Spring issue, former Canadian Women’s National Team player Rhian Wilkinson, who retired in February after a farewell match in Vancouver, reflects on her playing career and shares her objectives as she begins on her new path as a youth soccer coach.
Waiters issues challenge to Canadian coaches
In addition, NSCAC President Tony Waiters has written an open letter to coaches across the country to assist with a new initiative designed specifically for Inner City youth in Canada. Other contributors to the Spring issue include NSCAA Director of Coaching Education Ian Barker, Ontario Soccer’s Manager of Coaching Development Bobby Lennox and NSCAC National Staff Head Coach Tony La Ferrara.
A digital edition of The Journal will be accessible on the organization's new website, nscac.ca.
“We began collecting contributions for this issue back in December,” said De Blasis. “We were overwhelmed by the response from coaches across the country who offered their submissions, which included fitness training advice, session plans and tips on how youth players can improve their performances. The Journal provides soccer coaches the opportunity to share their knowledge and experiences with the entire Canadian coaching community.”

The Spring edition is the first of two issues of The Journal to be published in 2017 by the NSCAC. A Fall edition is scheduled to be released in September.
